Eccle. vii. 12. Wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence; but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

Study of Wifdom.

Wisdom is profitable to direct.

Prov. ii. 3. If thou criest after knowledge, and lifteft up thy voice for understanding;

Ver. 4. If thou feekeft her as filver, and fearchest for her as for hid treasures ; Ver. 5. Then fhalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Prov. iv. 13. Take faft hold of instruction, let her not go, keep her, for fhe is thy life.

Prov. viii. 17. I love them that love me, and those that feek me early fhall find me.

Prov. xix. 20. Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wife in thy latter end. Hof. vi. 3. Then fhall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD.

2 Chron. i. 11. And GOD faid to Solomon, Becaufe this was in thine heart, and thou haft not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet haft thou asked long life; but haft asked wisdom and knowledge for thyfelf, that thou mayeft judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

P. xix. 7. The law of the LORD is perfect, converting

Ver. 8. The ftatutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

Ver. 11. Moreover, by them is thy fervant warned; and in keeping of them there is great reward. Pf. cxix. 105. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Ver. 130. The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Prov. vi. 23. The commandment is a lamp, and the law is light, and reproofs of inftruction are the way of life.
