Outward pilotage N.B.-Ever since the passing of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1854, the annual returns have shown deductions from the gross earnings of the pilots as 78. 6d. in the £. sterling for the Channel Pilotage between Lundy and Kingroad. Since the reduction of the compulsory area in 1891, this arrangement has been altered, and a lesser percentage has since been paid on the River as well as on the Channel Pilotage, to the crews of pilot skiffs. The amount not being laid down by law or bye-law, is now omitted altogether, as at other ports both in the Bristol Channel and elsewhere, as shown by the Parliamentary Returns.
