The fast of the seventh month is the 3rd of Tishri (September, October), called the fast of Gedaliah, in memory of his assassination

(2 Kings, xxv. 25); and that of the tenth is the 10th day of Tebet (December, January), in commemoration of the commencement of the siege of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar (2 Kings, xxv. 1).
