the heat nor sun smite them ; for he that hath mercy on them, shall lead them ; even by the springs of water shall he guide them. f I Jehovah have called thee iņ righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house. g

As for thee also; by the blood of thy covenant, I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. b Such as sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron ; because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the Most High: therefore he brot down their heart with labor ; they fell down, and there was none to help. Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands: in sunder. Oh would praise Jehovah for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men !For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder. i

And it shall come to pass in that day that Je. hovah shall, punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they shall be gathered together as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord; who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. k I am he that liveth, and was dead ; and behold I am alive forevermore, Amen ; and have the keys of hell and death. I

I will ransom them from the power of the grave, (or hell ;) I will redeem them from death LO death I will be thy plagues ; O grave (or hell) I will be thy destruction : repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. m

For this purpose the Son of God was mani. fested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. n. And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by the means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they who are called might receive the promise of eternal in. heritance. o Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost, that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. p Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth ? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might filluall things. I And having spoiled principalities and powers, he

Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered ? But thus saith Jehovah ; even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered. s And Jehovah God said unto the serpent,.--I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. t Jesus Christ hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light, through the gospel. ! For as in Ad. am all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. V

Death the last enemy shall be destroyed. w And in this mountain shall Jehovah of Hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees; of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all flesh, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

He will swallow up death in victory : and Adonai Jehovah will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth : for Jehovah hath spoken it. x

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, death is swallowed up in

victory : O death, where is thy sting? O grave for hell) where is thy victory ? the sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law : but thanks be to God who giveth us the victory; through our Lord Jesus Christ. y

After this I beheld, and lo a great multitude which no man could number, of all nations and kindreds, and people and tongues, stood before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb, z

And one of the elders answered, Saying unto me, What are these who are arrayed in white robes ? and whence came they ? And I said unto him, Sir, thou-knowest. And he said unto me, These are they who came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb: therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his tem. ple; and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell

And he that sat upon the throne, said, Behold I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write ; for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, it is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the begin. ning and the end. I

The spirit of Jehovah God is upon me; because Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them ibat are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of Jehovah, and the day of vengeance of our God: to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called, trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah that he might be glorified.c.

The righteous shall see it and rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop her mouth. Whoso is wise and will observe these things, even they shall un. derstand the loving kindness of Jehovah. d
