IN offering a second edition of this work to the American public, the Author does not propose to make any addition to, or alteration of, the subject-matter in the original publication.

He has, however, carefully reviewed all the passages marked for reference, and corrected several typographical errors; and also greatly facilitated the pronunciation of the Hebrew words, by an alteration of the English spelling of them in accordance with their proper sounding; and with these improvements and the absence of any sectarian views, it is hoped the work will prove acceptable to the American public in general.
