MATTHEW XVIII.

32 lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him; O thou wicked servant, I forgave 33 thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me; shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow-servant, even as 34 I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due un35 to him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his

brother.

PART VII.

TO THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS.

LUKE IX.

And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem. 52 And he sent messengers before his face; and they went and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready 53 for him. And they did not receive him, because his face 54 was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his

disciples, James and John, saw this, they said; Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and 55 consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said; Know ye not what manner of spirit 56 ye are of? And they went to another village.

MARK X.

And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judea, by the farther side of Jordan; and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he 2 taught them again. And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him; Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. 3 And he answered and said unto them; What did Mo4 ses command you? And they said; Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. 5 And Jesus answered and said unto them; For the hardness of your heart he

10 His disciples say unto him; If the case of the man be 11 so with his wife, it is not good to marry. But he said unto

them; All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom 12 it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb; and there are some eunuchs,

And in the house his disciples asked him again of the 11 same matter. And he saith unto them; Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and.be married to another, she committeth adultery.

unto him; Why askest thou
me concerning good? one 18
is good. But if thou wilt
enter into life, keep the

said; "Thou shalt do no
murder; Thou shalt not
commit adultery; Thou
shalt not steal; Thou shalt

saith unto him; All these
things have I kept from my
youth up; what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said unto him; If thou
wilt be perfect, go and sell

the poor; and thou shalt
have treasure in heaven;
and come and follow me. 22

heard that saying, he went!

great possessions.

23 Then said Jesus unto his
disciples; Verily I say unto
you, that a rich man shall
hardly enter into the king- 24

I say unto you, it is easier
for a camel to enter through
the eye of a needle, than for
a rich man to enter into the

kneeled to him, and asked him; Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him; Why callest thou me good? there is none good, but one, that is God. Thou knowest the commandments; "Do not commit adultery; Do not kill; Do not steal; Do not bear false witness s; Defraud not; Honour thy father and mother." And he answered and said unto him; Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus

beholding him, loved him, and said unto him; One thing thou, lackest; go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure. in heaven; and come, take

me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved; for he had great possessions. And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples; How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them; Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
