that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God. Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious ? so that the children of Israel could not itedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of bis countenance, which glory was to be done away; how shall not the ministration of the Spirit be rather glorious ? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

O omnipotent and everlasting God, who art always better disposed to hear our prayers than we are to offer them, and who are accustomed to grant us more good things than we can forin a conception of or defire, and which we can by no means pretend to deferve, we beseech thce to let us partake of thy abundant mercy in forgiving - 2 numerous transgressions wherewith our consciences are burdened, and wnich render us the objects of thy wrath, and in conferring upon us those blessings waich our many ofences have rendered us unworthy to ask of thee; and this we requeit for the sake of thy Son our blessed Saviour Jesus Christ. The Epistle. Gal. iii. 16. 10 Abraham and his feed were the promises made. He

saith not, And to seeds, as of many ; but as of one; And to thy feed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant that was confirmed before of God in Chrift, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot dilannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Wherefore then ferveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the feed Mould come, to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid : for if there had been a law given, which could have given lite, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jelus Christ might be given to them that believe.

luit of the flesh. . For the Aesh lufteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh ; and these are contrary the one to the other ;, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifeft, which are these, Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, ftrife, feditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like ; of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's, have crucified the felh, with the affections and lufts.

O Lord, we beseech thee to extend thy watchful care over thy church, and to be its constant preserver : and because the frailty of our human nature is so great, that we are liable to fall frequently into sin, we earnestly intreat thee to preserve us from any powerful temptations, which may ensnare our innocence, and to afford us all necesary affistance to further our salvation ; and this we pray for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.
