The regard that God retains for his antient people during their difperfion, is thus beautifully reprefented by this prophet, Ch. xlix. 14. • But Zion faid, Jehovah • hath forfaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her fucking child, that the fhould not have compaflion on the fon of her womb? Yea they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold I have graven thee on the palms of my hands. The calamities and the difperfion of the Jews have been of long continuance; but, according to the following reprefentation, all their fufferings will bear but a small proportion to their future glory and happiness.
