and Og, whom ye utterly deftroyed.

11 And affoone as wee had heard thefe things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remaine any more courage in any man, beçaufe of you: for the LORD your God, hee is God in heaven above, and in the earth beneath.

12 Now therefore, I pray you, fweare unto me by the LORD, fince I have fhewed you kindnes, y ye will alfo fhew kindnes unto my fathers houfe, and give me a true token, 13 And that ye will fave alive iny father and iny mother, and my brethren, and my fifters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

14 And the inen anfwered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our bufinefle. And it fhalbe when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deale kindly and truely with thee.

15 Then he let them downe by a coard thorow y window:for her houfe was upon the town wall, and the dwelt upon y wall. 16 And the faid unto them, Get you to the mountaine, left the purfuers meet you: and hide your felves there three dayes untill the purfuers be returned, and afterward

may you goe your way.

17 And the men faid unto her, We will be blameleffe of this thine oath which thou. haft made us fweare.

19 Behold, when we coine into the land, thou shalt bind this line of skarlet-thread in the window Which thou diddeft let us dovne by: and thou shalt bring thy father and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy fathers houfhold home unto thee.

19 And it fhalbe that whofoever fhall goe out of the doores of thy houfe into the freet, his blood fall be upon his head, and we will be guiltleffe. and whofoever fhalbe. with thee in the houfe, his blood ball be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

20 And ifthou utter this our bufineffe, then will wee be quit of thine oath which thou haft made us to fiveare.

21 And the faid, According to your words,fo be it. And the feat then away, and they departed: And thee bound the skarlet line in the window,

22 And they went and came unto the mountaine, and abode there three dayes, untill the purfuers were returned. And the purfuers fought them throughout all the way, but found them not.

23 So the two men returned, and defcended from the mountaine, and paffed over, and came to Iofhua the fon of Nun,and told him all things that befell them.

24 And they faid unto lofhua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land for even the inhabitants of the Countrey doe faint because of us,

19 And lofhua faid, Hereby ye fhal knowthat the living God is among you, and that he will without faile drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girga fhites, and the Amorites, and the Iebufités.

4 Then Ioihua called the twelve men whom hee had prepared of the children of Ifrael, out of every tribe a man:

5 And Iofhua faid unto then,Paffe over before the Ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Iordan, and take ye up every anan of you a ftone upon his fhoulder according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Ifrael.

8 And the children of Ifrael did to as loflaua commanded, and took up twelve ftones out of the midft of Iordan, as the LORD

of the tribes of the children of Ifrael, and carried them over with them, unto the place where they lodged, & laid then down there. 9 And fofhua fet up twelve ftones in the midft of lordan, in the place where the feet of the Priests which bare the Arke of the. 14 On that day the LORD magnified Iofhua in the fight of all Ifrael, and they feared him, as they feared Mofes, all the dayes of his life.

of the Amorites which were on the fide of Iordan Weftward, and all the Kings of the Ganaanites, which were by the Sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the wa rers of Iordan from before the children of Ifrael, untill we were paffed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Ifrael.

2 At that time the LORD faid unto Iofhua, Make thee fharpe knives, and cir cumcife againe the children of Ifrael the fe cond time.

3 And Lofhua made him fharpe knives, and circuncifed the children of Ifrael at the hill of the foreskinne.

5. Now all the people that came out, were circumcifed, but all the people that were borne in the wilderneffe, by the way as they came foorth out of Egypt, them they had not circumcifed.

6 For the children of Ifrael walked forty yteres in the wilderneffe, till all the people that were men of warre which came out of Egypt were confumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD, unto whom the LORD fware that he would not ihew them the land which the LORD fware unto their fathers, that he would give us,a land that floweth with initke and honey.

7 And their children whom hee raifed up in their ftead; them Iofhua circumcifed, for they were uncircumcifed: because they had not circumcifed them by the way.

3 And it came to paffe when they had done circumcifing all the people, that they abode in their places in the campe till they were whole.

9 And the LORD faid unto Iofhua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you: Wherefore the Name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.

And the children of Ifrael encamped in Gilgal, and kept the paffeover on the fourteenth day of the inoneth at Even,in the the plaines of Iericho.

11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land, on the inorrow after the Paffeover, unleavened cakes, and parched corne in the felfe fame day.

12 And the Manna ceafed on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land, neither had the children of Ifrael Manna any more: but they did eate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that yeere.

3 And they returned to Iofhua, and faid unto him, Let not all the people go up: but let about two or three thoufand men goe up and fmite Ai, and make not all the peo, plete labour thither, for they are but fewy."

Ai repelleth Ifrael.

And Iofhua faid, Alas, O Lord God, wherefore haft thou at all brought this people overlordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to deftroy us? Would to God we had beene content, and dwelt on the other fide lordan.

8 O Lord, what fhall I fay, when Ifrael turneth their backes before their enemies? 9 For the Canaanites, and all the inhabi tants of the land fhall heare of it, and fhall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth, and what wilt thou do un to thy great Name?

10 And the LORD faid unto Ioshua, Get thee up; wherefore lieft thou thus up on thy face?

11 Ifrael hath finned, and they have also tranfgreffed my Covenant which I com nanded then for they have even taken of the accurfed thing, and have also stol len,and diffembled alfo, and they have put it even amongst their owne stuffe.

12 Therefore the children of Ifrael could nor ftand before their enemies, but turned their backes before their enemies, becaufe they were accurfed, neither will I be with you any more, except you deftroy the accur fed thing from amongst you.

13 Vp, fanctifie the people, and fay, San&tifie your felves against to morrow: for thus faith the LORD God of Ifrael, there it an accurfed thing in the midft of thee, Olf rael, thou canst not ftand before thine ene. mies; untill yee take away the accurfed thing from among you.
