Looking diligently, left any Man fail of the Grace of God: left any Root of Bitterness springing up, trouble you, and thereby many be defiled, Heb. xii. 15.

It is of great Importance to be mindful of our Duties, and to live in the Prefence of God, in order to receive his Directions, to learn his Defigns concerning us, and to let flip no Opportunities of doing fomething for him. We are not lefs obliged to be watchful over ourselves, with Refpect to our Neighbour, that we may not offend against Love. --- Nothing is fo eafily communicated as Rancour and Bitterness of Heart, let us therefore cut off the very leaft Root of it, if we defire to preserve that of Love and Tenderneis,

Now the Seafon is of Love,

And heavenly Vifitation,
Sinners, know the Time, and prove
The Day of your Salvation :

All may now in Chrift retrieve

God the Father's Favour,
Claim the Holy Ghost, and live
Priefts and Kings for ever,

LET your Converfation be without Covetoufnefs; and be content with fuch Things as ye have; for he hath faid, I will never leave thee, nor forfake thee. So that we may boldly fay, The Lord is my Helper, and I will not fear what Man fhall do unto me, Heb. xiii. 5, 6..

Whoever fets his Affections on earthly and corruptible Riches, has forgotten that he is called to a celeftial and eternal Kingdom. --- That Perfon who is perfuaded that he is in the Hand of God, orders all Things by His Will, is always content with his present State and Condition. --- God always fuccours those who put their Truft in Him, if not in that Manner they defire, at least in that which He judges best, and which is more advantageous for them. If he permits any Evil to happen to them it is because that very Evil is their Good:

Nothing more can we require,
Love fills up our whole Defire,
Kept by Love's protecting Power,
Nothing can we fuffer more.

Who to us haft Mercy fhewn,

Still Thou doft conduct thine own,
By the Streams of purest Grace,
To our everlafting Place.

AND they fung a new Song, faying, Thou art worthy to take the Book, and to open the Seals thereof; for Thou waft flain, and haft redeemed us to God by thy Blood, Rev. v. 9.

To praife God belongs only to Souls fanctified by Grace. The New Song of perfect Love fuits none but those who are renewed by Glory. Let the grateful Acknowledgement of this great and glorious Redemption, and the Hope of its Confummation in Heaven, put this Song, even here below, into our Hearts and our Mouths. Let us live for God fince for Him we are redeemed. Let us pray nothing doubting that we are His Children, and with humble Confidence blefs Him who has redeemed us. This is the Spirit and Practice of the true Church.

LAMB of GOD thy Right we own;
Worthy Thou, and Thou alone,
The myfterious Book t' explain,
Teeming with the Fates of Man,
Thou shalt open every Seal,
Every Prophecy fulfil.

AND he fhewed me a pure River of Water of Life, clear as Crystal, proceeding out of the Throne of God, and of the Lamb, Rev. xxii. 1.

O God! adorable Fountain! from whence the whole Grace of the Chriftian Life flows into us; from whence that Torrent of Pleasure, that River of Glory ftreams into the Hearts of the Saints, which fills them and makes them happy; draw me to Thee, that I may be filled with Thee. Let Faith and Prayer, cause us frequently to approach the Throne of Grace, in order to find Mercy there: This is the Way to arrive at the Throne of Glory, that we may find there the End of all our Miseries.

Our longing Souls aloud would fing,
Spring up celeftial Fountain spring,
To a redundant River flow,

And chear this thirsty Land below.
Let Cares like a wild Deluge come,

And Storms and Sorrows fall,
May I but fafely reach my Home,

My God! my Heaven! my All!

May this bleft Torrent near my Side
Thro' all the Desert gently glide,
Then in Emanuel's Land above,
Spread to a Sea of Joy and Love.
There fhall I bathe my weary Soul,

In Seas of heav'nly Reft,
And not a Wave of Trouble roll
Acrofs my peaceful Breast.

IN

N the Midft of the Street of it, and of either Side of the River, was there the Tree of Life, which bare twelve Manner of Fruits, and yielded her Fruit every Month; and the Leaves of the Tree were for the Healing of the Nations, Rev. xxii. 2.

The Tree of Life is an Emblem of JESUS CHRIST always prefent in his Church; present in an open unveiled Manner to all the Bleffed, their Food and their Life; who sheds abroad in them Immortality, Joy, and Bleffedness, and communicates to them Part of all His Poffeffions, as Co-heirs with Himfelf. The Leaves are the Merits, the Grace, and the Prefence itself of Jesus CHRIST, but hidden in the Word and Sacraments for the Healing of Sinners. The Tree, and the Fruit in the Midft of the Street of the Holy City, is JESUS CHRIST present, without any Veil, in Heaven, to conftitute the Happiness and the Joy of the Saints: Let us apply to ourselves the Remedy of thefe precious Leaves by Faith. Let us expect the Fruit of them with a fted faft Hope and ardent Defires. Bleft JESUS, Source of Grace divine, WhatSoul-refreshingStreams are thine? O bring these healing Waters nigh, Or we must droop, and fall, and die.

No Traveller thro' Defert Lands,
Midft fcorching Suns and burning Sands
More eager longs for cooling Rain,
Or pants the Current to obtain.
