For this shall

thee in a time

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. every one that is godly pray unto when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding-place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.-Ps. xxxii. 4.

I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul

shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. -Ps. xxxiv. 1, &c.

I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name. So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.-Ps. lxi. 4.

I will pay thee my vows, which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken when I was in trouble. Verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.-Ps. lxvi. 14.

Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.Ps. xcix. 8.

I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. Thou art my God, and I will praise thee thou art my God, I will exalt thee.-Ps. cxviii. 21.

:

I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the low dungeon. Thou hast heard my voice; thou drewest near in the day when I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not. O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.-Lam. iii. 55.

Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: and he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge unto them that know understanding: he revealeth the deep and secret things he knoweth what is in the darkness, and

the light dwelleth with him. I thank thee and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee.Dan. ii. 20, &c.

Out of the belly of hell cried I: and thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I thy holy temple. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord

and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.— Jonah ii. 2, &c.

Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but

because of the people which stand by I said it.

John xi. 41.

FOR

DELIVERANCE

FROM ENEMIES TEMPORAL

AND SPIRITUAL, AND FOR VICTORY OVER THEM.

Blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thine hand.—Gen. xiv. 20.

Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters. Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.-Ex. xv. 6, &c.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear,

though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.-Ps. xlvi. 1, &c.

Blessed be God, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.-Ps. cxxiv. 6.

Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ.-1 Cor. xv. 57.

FOR DELIVERANCE FROM TROUBLE, SICKNESS,

AND DEATH.

I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.-Ps. lix. 16.

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; to see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness;
