Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. -Luke xxiii. 46.

Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.-Acts vii. 59. Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth-Ps. xxxi. 6.

FOR LIFE.

I pray thee, let me live.-1 Kings xx. 32. I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these thy servants be precious in thy sight. Let my life now be precious in thy sight.-2 Kings i. 13. Preserve me, O God; for in thee do I put my trust.-Ps. xvi. 1.

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee. Hide not thy face from me, in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me; in the day when I call, answer me speedily; for my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth. My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. Because of thine indignation and thy wrath, for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down. My days are like a shadow that declineth, and I am withered like grass. But thou, O Lord, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.-Ps. cii. 1, &c.

D

O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days; thy years are throughout all generations.-Ps. cii. 24.

O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.-Ps. cxvi. 4.

Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. And enter not into judg

ment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead. Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate. I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands. I stretch forth my hands unto thee; my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah. Hear me speedily, O Lord; my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies: I flee

unto thee to hide me.

Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God:

thy Spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name's sake; for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble. And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.-Ps. cxliii.

Mine eyes fail with looking upward; O Lord, I am oppressed; undertake for me. What shall

I

say

? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it. I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul. O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit; so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.—Isaiah xxxviii. 14, &c.

Lord, save us, we perish.-Matt. viii. 25.

FOR REMEMBRANCE.

I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight.2 Kings xx. 3.

Think upon me, my God, for good.-Neh.

v. 19.

Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.-Neh. xiii. 22.

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness; thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress, have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. - Ps. iv. 1.

Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my meditation, hearken unto the voice of my cry, my king, and my God; for unto thee will I pray, my voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up, for thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee, the foolish shall not stand in thy sight; thou hatest all workers of iniquity, thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing, the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man, but as for me, I will come into thy
