O God of my father, the Lord which saidest unto me, return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee; I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth which thou hast shewed unto thy ser vant; for with my staff, I passed over this Jordan and now I am become two bands. But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. Arise, O Lord; disappoint him, cast him down, deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword; from men which are thy hand, O Lord, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure; they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness.-Ps. xvii. 13.

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season I am not silent. But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in thee; they trusted, and thou didst deliver them; they cried unto thee, and were delivered; thy trusted in thee, and

were not confounded. Thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. I was cast upon thee from the womb; thou art my God from my mother's belly. Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels; my strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. But be not thou far from

me, O Lord: O my strength, haste thee to help Deliver my soul from the sword.

Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me. For they speak not peace but they devise deceitful matters against them that are at quiet in the land. This thou hast seen, O Lord: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me. Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord. Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness; and let not them rejoice over me.
