the night. Yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early; for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us; for thou also hast wrought all our works in us, O Lord our God. Other lords beside thee have had dominion over us; but by thee only will we make mention of thy name. They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise; therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth. Lord, in trouble have they visited thee; they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them. Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O Lord. We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind, we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.-Isa. xxvi. 7, &c.

Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously; so will we render the calves of our

lips. Asshur shall not save us : we will not ride upon horses; neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.-Hosea xiv. 2.

south land; give me also springs of water.Joshua xv. 19.

And now, O Lord God, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant; therefore, now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for thou, O Lord God, hast spoken it; and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.-2 Sam. vii. 28.

O that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me.-1 Chron. iv. 10.

Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. Ps. cxviii. 26.

Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me; lest I be full and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord ? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.-Prov. xxx. 7, 8, 9.

FOR GOD'S PRESENCE.

My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy

sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant.-Gen. xviii. 3.

Leave us not, I pray thee, forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness. -Numb. x. 31.

If now I have found grace in thy sight, depart not hence, I pray thee.-Judges vi. 17.

Now therefore arise, O Lord God, into thy resting-place, thou, and the ark of thy strength; let thy priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness. O Lord God, turn not away the face of thine anointed.-2 Chron. vi. 41.

There be many that say, Who will shew us any good; Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.-Ps. iv. 6.

When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger; thou hast been my help, leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.-Ps. xxvii. 8, 9.

O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.-Judges xiii. 18.

The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers; let him not leave us, nor forsake that he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes and his judgments,

us;
