FOR THE CHURCH.
That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked, and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee. Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? Behold, now I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes. O let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once.

Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation ? -Gen. xx. 4.
Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance; in the place, O Lord, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in; in the sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.- Exod. xv. 17.
Lord, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt, with great power, and with a mighty hand ? Wherefore should the Egyptians speak and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume
them from the face of the earth. Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.- Exod. xxxii. 11, 12.
Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land w ch thou hast given us ; a land that floweth with milk and honey.--Deut. xxvi. 15.
Let live, and not die, and let not his men be few.-Deut. xxxiii. 6. Hear, Lord, the voice of
and bring him unto his people : let his hands be sufficient for him ; and be thou an help to him from his enemies.- Deut. xxxiii. 7.
Let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might.-Judges v. 31.
The Lord make his people an hundred times so many more as they be.—1 Chron. xxi. 3.
Let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice : let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.-Ps. v. 11, 12.
Thou shalt keep them, O Lord ; thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Ps. xii. 7.
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles. -Ps. xxv. 22.
Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.-Ps. xxviii. 9.
Let all those that seek thee be joyful and glad in thee : let sueh as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.-Ps. xl. 16.
Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.-Ps. li. 11.
