SELECTION 136. [Ps. cxlvi. 5.] 1. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help,

Whose hope is | in Jehovah his God; 2. Who made heaven and earth,

The sea, and all that is therein; 3. Who keepeth | truth forever;

Who executeth judgment for the oppressed;
4. Who giveth food to the hungry.

Praise ye Jah
1. For it is good to sing praises to our God;

For it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
2. Jehovah doth build up Jerusalem :

He gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
3. He healeth the s broken in heart,

And | bindeth up their wounds.
4. He telleth the number of the stars;

He calleth them all by their names.


5. Great is our Lord, and great


power ; His | understanding is infinite. 6. Jehovah lifteth | up the meek:

He casteth the wicked down to the ground. 7. Sing to Jehovah | with thanksgiving ;

Sing praise to our God upon the harp : 8. For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is comely. Praise ye JAH

Praise | thou thy God, O Zion. 2. For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates ;

He hath | blessed thy children within thee. 3. He maketh thy | borders peace,

He filleth thee with the | finest of the wheat. 4. He sendeth forth his commandment to earth : His word | runneth


swiftly. 5. He giveth | snow like wool :

He scattereth the hoar-frost like ashes. 6. He casteth forth his | ice like morsels :

Who can I stand before his cold? 7. He sendeth his word, and | melteth them :

He causeth the wind to | blow, and the waters flow. 8. He declareth his word to Jacob,

His statutes and his | judgments unto Israel. 9. He hath not dealt so with any nation:

And as for his I judgments, they have not known them.

[Ps. cxix. 73.] 1. Thy hands have made me and formed me: [ments.

Make me to understand that I may learn thy command2. They that fear thee will be glad when they see me ;

Because I have ho-ped in thy word. 3. I know, O JEHOVAH, that thy I judgments are right,

And that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. 4 Let, I pray thee, thy kindness | be for my comfort,

According to thy word to thy servant. 5. Let thy mercies come to me, that I may live :

For thy | law is my delight. 6. Let the proud be ashamed; for they vex me with out a cause :

But I will meditate in thy precepts. 7. Let those that fear thee | turn to me,

And those that know thy testimonies. 8. Let


heart be sound in thy statutes ; That I may not be ashamed.

Are righteous and very true. 3. My zeal | hath consumed me,

5. I am small and despised :

I do not forget thy precepts. 6. Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,

And thy | law is the truth. 7. Trouble and anguish have taken | hold of me:

Yet thy commandments are my delights. 8. The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting:

Make me to understand, and I shall live.

mine enemies; Make thy way | straight before my face.

[Ps. Ixxxv.] 1. Thou hast been favorable, O Jehovah, to thy land :

Thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob. 2. Thou hast forgiven the iniquity 1 of thy people,

Thou hast | covered all their sin. 3. Thou hast taken away | all thy wrath :

Thou hast turned away from the heat of thine anger. 4. Restore us, O God of our salvation,

And turn a way thine anger from us. 5. Wilt thou be angry with us forever?

Wilt thou prolong thine anger to genersation and genera6. Wilt thou not revive us again,

That thy people may rejoice in thee? 7. Make us to see thy mercy, | O JEHOVAH,

And grant us thy salvation.



[Ps. cxlv. 14.] 1. JEHOVAH upholdeth all that fall,

And raiseth up | all the bow-ed down. 2. The eyes of all | wait on thee;

And thou givest | them their meat in its season. 3. Thou dost open thine hand,

And satisfy the desire of every living thing. 4. Jehovah is righteous in all his ways,

And | merciful in all his works. 5. Jehovah is good to all ;

And his mercies are over all his works.
