SELECTION 238. [Ps. xxxvii. 12.] 1. The wicked plotteth aļgainst the just,
And gnasheth up on him with his teeth. 2. The Lord shall | laugh at him:
For he seeth that his day is coming. 3. The wicked have drawn out the sword,
And they have bent their bow, 4. To cast down the poor and needy,
To slay such as be of | upright conversation. 5. Their sword shall enter into their own heart,
And their | bows shall be broken. 6. A little that a | righteous man hath
Is better than the riches of many wicked. 7. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken:
But JEHOVAH upholdeth the righteous.
SELECTION 239. [Ps. xxxvii. 18.] 1. JEHOVAH knoweth the days of the upright :
And their in heritance shall be for ever. 2. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time:
And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 3. But the wicked shall perish,
And the enemies of JEHOVAH shall be as the fat of lambs: 4. They | shall consume :
Into smoke shall | they consume away. 5. The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again:
But the righteous (showeth mercy, and giveth. 6. For such as be blessed of him shall-in herit the earth ;
And they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
CHANT 91. SINGLE.
JEHOVAH will deliver l'him in time of trouble.

Heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
When shall he die, and his name perish?
'His heart gathereth iniquity | to itself;
Against me do they devise my hurt.
And now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
Hath lifted | up his heel against me.
And raise me up, that I may requite them.
Because mine enemy | doth not triumph over me. 6. And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity,
And settest me belfore thy face for ever.

SELECTION 242. [Ps. xxxvii. 29.] 1. The righteous shall in herit the land,
And dwell therein for ever. 2. The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom,
And his | tongue doth talk of judgment. 3. The law of his God is l in his heart;
None of his steps shall slide. 4. The wicked doth | watch the righteous,
And seeketh to slay him. 5. JEHOVAH will not leave him in his hand,
Nor condemn him when he is judged. 6. Wait on JEHOVAH, and keep his way,
'And he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: When the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
SELECTION 243. [Ps. xxxvii. 35.] 1. I have seen the wicked | in great power,
And spreading himself | like a green bay tree. 2. Yet he passed away, and, i lo, he was not !
Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found ! 3. Mark the perfect man, and be|hold the upright!
For the end of that man is peace! 4. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together.
The end of the wicked shall be cut off. 5. But the salvation of the righteous is of JEHOVAH:
He is their strength in the time of trouble. 6. And Jehovah shall help them, | and deliver them: 'He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, be cause they trust in him.

SELECTION 244. 1. Thou hast brought a | vine out of Egypt:
Thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it. 2. Thou preparedst | room before it,
And didst cause it to take deep í root, and it filled the 3. The hills were covered with the shadow of it,
And the boughs thereof were like the cedars of God. 4. It sent out its boughs to the sea,
And its | branches unto the river. 5. Why hast thou broken down its hedges,
So that all they who I pass by the way 6. The boar out of the wood doth waste it,
And the wild | beast of the field doth devour it. 7. Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts!

Upon the son of man thou | madest strong for thyself. 5. So will not we go | back from thee:
Quicken us, and we will | call upon thy name. 6. Turn us again, O JEHOVAH | God of hosts ;
Cause thy face to shine ; and we shall be saved.

SELECTION 246. [Ps. lxiii.] 1. O God! thou art my God;
Early | will I seek thee: 2. My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh | longeth for thee,
In a dry and thirsty | land, where no water is : 3. To see thy power and thy glory,
So as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. 4. Because thy kindness is | better than life,
My | lips shall therefore praise thee. 5. Thus will I bless thee | while I live :
I will lift | up my hands in thy name. 6. My soul shall be satisfied as with | marrow and fatness ; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.
SELECTION 247. [Ps. lxiii. 6.] 1. When I remember thee uplon my bed,
And meditate on thee in the watches; 2. Because thou hast | been my help,
Therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. 3. My soul followeth | hard after thee:
Thy right | hand upholdeth me. 4. But those that seek my | soul, to destroy it,
Shall go into the lower parts of the earth. 5. They shall fall by the sword:
They shall be a portion for foxes. 6. But the king shall reljoice in God; 'Every one that sweareth by him shall glory: But the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
