SELECTION 238. [Ps. xxxvii. 12.]

1. The wicked plotteth against the just, And gnasheth upon him with his teeth. 2. The Lord shall laugh at him:

For he seeth that his day is coming. 3. The wicked have drawn | out the sword, And they have bent their bow,

4. To cast down the | poor and needy,

To slay such as be of | upright conversation. 5. Their sword shall enter into their own heart, And their bows shall be broken.

6. A little that a righteous man hath

Is better than the riches of many wicked. 7. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: But JEHOVAH Upholdeth the righteous.

SELECTION 239. [Ps. xxxvii. 18.]

1. JEHOVAH knoweth the days of the upright:
And their inheritance shall be for ever.

2. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time:
And in the days of | famine they shall be satisfied.

3. But the wicked shall perish,

And the enemies of JEHOVAH shall be as the fat of lambs:

4. They shall consume:

Into smoke shall they consume away.

5. The wicked borroweth, and payeth | not again:

But the righteous | showeth mercy, and giveth.

6. For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; And they that be cursed of | him shall be cut off.

1. Blessed is he that considereth the poor! JEHOVAH will deliver him in time of trouble.

Heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

5. Mine enemies speak | evil of me,

When shall he die, and his name perish?

6. And if he come to see me, he | speaketh vanity:
'His heart gathereth iniquity | to itself;
When he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

1. All that hate me whisper together against me: Against me do they devise my hurt.

2. An evil disease, say they, cleaveth | fast unto him:
And now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
3. Yea, mine own familiar friend, in | whom I trusted,
'Who did | eat of my bread,

Hath lifted up his heel against me.

4. But thou, O JEHOVAH! be merciful | unto me, And raise me up, that I may requite them.

5. By this I know that thou | favorest me,

Because mine enemy | doth not triumph over me. 6. And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, And settest me belfore thy face for ever.

And dwell therein for ever.

2. The mouth of the righteous | speaketh wisdom,

And his tongue doth talk of judgment.

3. The law of his GOD is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide.

4. The wicked doth watch the righteous, And seeketh to slay him.

5. JEHOVAH will not leave him | in his hand, Nor condemn him when he is judged.

6. Wait on JEHOVAH, and keep his way,

'And he shall exalt thee to inherit the land:
When the wicked are | cut off, thou shalt see it.

SELECTION 243.

[Ps. xxxvii. 35.]

1. I have seen the wicked | in great power,
And spreading himself | like a green bay tree.
2. Yet he passed away, and, | lo, he was not!
Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found!
3. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright!
|
For the end of that man is peace!

4. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together.
The end of the wicked shall be cut off.

5. But the salvation of the righteous is of JEHOVAH:
He is their strength in the time of trouble.
6. And JEHOVAH shall help them, | and deliver them:
'He shall deliver them from the wicked,
And save them, because they trust in him.

1. Thou hast brought a | vine out of Egypt:
Thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

2. Thou preparedst | room before it,
And didst cause it to take deep
3. The hills were covered with the

And the boughs thereof were | like the cedars of GOD.

4. It sent out its | boughs to the sea,

And its branches unto the river.

5. Why hast thou broken | down its hedges,

So that all they who | pass by the way do pluck it?

6. The boar out of the wood doth waste it,

And the wild beast of the field doth devour it. 7. Return, we beseech thee, O | GOD of hosts!

Look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine.

1. Return, we beseech thee, O | GOD of hosts!

Look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine; 2. And the vineyard which thy right | hand hath planted, And the branch that thou | madest strong for thyself.

3. It is burned with fire, it is cut down :

They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance. 4. Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, Upon the son of man thou | madest strong for thyself.

5. So will not we go | back from thee:

Quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

6. Turn us again, O JEHOVAH | GOD of hosts;

Cause thy face to | shine; and we shall be saved.

1. O GOD! thou | art my GOD;

Early will I seek thee:

2. My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh | longeth for thee, In a dry and thirsty | land, where no water is:

3. To see thy power and thy glory,

So as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

4. Because thy kindness is better than life, My lips shall therefore praise thee.

5. Thus will I bless thee | while I live:

I will lift up my hands in thy name.

6. My soul shall be satisfied as with | marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.

SELECTION 247.

1. When I remember thee up on my bed,

And meditate on thee in the watches;

2. Because thou hast | been my help,

[Ps. lxiii. 6.]

Therefore in the shadow of thy | wings will I rejoice.

3. My soul followeth | hard after thee:

Thy right hand upholdeth me.

4. But those that seek my soul, to destroy it,

Shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

5. They shall fall by the sword:

They shall be a portion for foxes.

6. But the king shall rejoice in GOD;

'Every one that sweareth by him shall glory:

But the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
