1. Hear the right, O JEHOVAH! attend to my cry,
Give ear unto my prayer, not out of feigned lips.
2. Let my sentence come forth from thy presence;
Let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
3. Thou hast proved mine heart;

Thou hast visited me in the night;

4. Thou hast tried me, and | shalt find nothing;

I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. 5. As to the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept from the paths of the Destroyer. 6. Hold up my goings | in thy paths,

That my footsteps do not slip.

Thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. 4. Thou hast given a banner to | them that feared thee, That it may be displayed because of the truth.

5. That thy beloved may be delivered;

Save with thy right hand, and hear me. 6. Through GOD we shall do valiantly : For he shall tread down our enemies.

1. How long wilt thou forget me, O JEHOVAH? for ever? How long wilt thou | hide thy face from me? 2. How long shall I take counsel | in my soul, 'Having sorrow | in my heart daily?

How long shall mine enemy | be exalted over me? 3. Consider and hear me, O JEHOVAH, MY GOD!

Enlighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4. Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; And those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 5. But I have trusted | in thy mercy;

My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6. I will sing unto JEHOVAH,

Because he hath | dealt bountifully with me.

1. Help me, O JEHOVAH MY GOD!

O save me according to thy mercy!

2. That they may know that this is thy hand; That thou, | O JEHOVAH, hast done it.

3. Let them curse, | but bless thou:

'When they arise, let them | be ashamed; But let thy servant rejoice.

4. Let mine adversaries be | clothed with shame, And covered with their confusion, as with a mantle. 5. I will greatly praise JEHOVAH | with my mouth; Yea, I will praise him among the multitude. 6. For he shall stand at the right | hand of the poor, To save him from | those that condemn his soul.

[Ps. ix. 15.]

1. The heathen are sunk down in the | pit they made:
In the net which they | hid is their own foot taken.
2. JEHOVAH is known by the | judgment he executeth:
The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.
3. The wicked shall be turned into hell,

And all the nations that forget GOD.

4. For the needy shall not alway | be forgotten:

The expectation of the | poor shall not perish for ever. 5. Arise, O JEHOVAH! let not | man prevail:

Let the heathen be judged in thy sight.

6. Put them in fear, | O JEHOVAH!

That the nations may | know themselves but men.

SELECTION 263.

[Ps. x. 12.]

1. Arise, O JEHOVAH! O GOD, lift | up thine hand! For get not thou the humble.

2. Wherefore doth the wicked contemn GOD?

He hath said in his heart, | Thou wilt not require it.

3. Thou hast seen; for thou be|holdest mischief And spite, to re quite it with thy hand:

4. The poor committeth himself unto thee; Thou art the helper of the fatherless.

5. Break thou the arm of the wicked | and the evil : Seek out his wickedness till thou find none.

6. JEHOVAH is King for | ever and ever:

The heathen are | perished out of his land.

1. O JEHOVAH! how great are thy works! And thy | thoughts are very deep!

2. A brutish man | knoweth not;

Neither doth a fool understand this. 3. When the wicked | spring as the grass,

[Ps. xcii. 5.]

And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; 4. It is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

But thou, O JEHOVAH, art | High for evermore!

5. For, lo! thine enemies, | O JEHOVAH!

'For, lo! thine | enemies shall perish;

All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. 6. But my horn shalt thou exalt like an unicorn's: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

SELECTION 265.

1. Thou turnest | man to destruction;

And sayest, Return, ye children of men.

2. Return, O JEHOVAH! how long?

[Ps. xc. 3.]

And let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

3. O satisfy us early with thy mercy!

That we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

4. Make us glad according to the days thou hast afflicted And the years wherein we have seen evil.

5. Let thy work appear | unto thy servants, And thy glory unto their children.

6. And let the beauty of JEHOVAH our | GOD be upon us: 'And establish thou the work of our | hands upon us; Yea, the work of our | hands establish thou it.

SELECTION 266.

1. Lead me, O JEHOVAH! | in thy righteousness, Make thy way straight before my face.

2. For there is no faithfulness | in their mouth; Their inward part is very wickedness;

3. Their throat is an open sepulchre ; They flatter with their tongue;

4. Destroy thou | them, O GOD!

Let them fall by their own counsels;

[Ps. v. 8.]

5. Cast them out in the multitude of | their transgressions; For they have rebelled against thee.

6. But let all those that put their trust in | thee rejoice: Let them ever shout for | joy, that thou defendest them.

SELECTION 267.

1. Deliver me from mine enemies, O my GOD!

Defend me from | them that rise up against me.

2. Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, And save me from men of blood.

3. For, lo! they lie in wait for my soul: The mighty are gathered against me;

4. But I will sing of thy power;

[Ps. lix.]

Yea, I will sing aloud of thy | mercy in the morning:

5. For thou hast been my defence

And refuge in the day of my trouble.

6. Unto thee, O my Strength! [ will I sing:

For GoD is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
