SELECTION 268. 1. Many, 0 JE HOVAH my God!
Are thy wonderful works which thou hast done ; 2. And thy thoughts which are toward us :
They cannot be reckoned up in order to thee. 3. If I would declare and speak of them,
They are more than can be numbered. 4. Sacrifice and offering thou didst | not desire; 'Mine ears hast thou opened:
Burnt offering and sin offering | hast thou not required. 5. Then said I, I Lo, I come!
In the volume of the book it is written of me, 6. I delight to do thy will, | O my God!
Yea, thy law is within my heart.

SELECTION 269. 1. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation:
I have not refrained my lips, | O Jehovah thou knowest. 2. I have not hid thy righteousness withsin my,
heart; I have declared thy | faithfulness and thy salvation. 3. I have not concealed thy kindness
And thy truth from the great congregation. 4. Withhold not thou thy mercies from me, | O JEHOVAH!
Let thy kindness and thy truth constinually preserve me. 5. For innumerable evils have compassed me about; 'Mine iniquities have taken hold upon me,
So that I am not | able to look up. 6. They are more than the | hairs of mine head;
Therefore my heart forsaketh me.
SELECTION 270. [Ps. xxxiv. 9.] 1. O fear Jehovah, 1 ye his saints !
For there is no I want to them that fear him. 2. The young lions do lack, and | suffer hunger:
But they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good. 3. Come, ye children, hearken | unto me!
I will I teach you the fear of JEHOVAH. 4. What man de sireth life,
And loveth | days, that he may see good ? 5. Keep thy | tongue from evil,
And thy | lips from speaking guile. 6. Depart from evil, / and do good; Seek | peace, and pursue it.
SELECTION 271. [Ps. xxxvii. 23.) 1. The steps of a good man are ordered by JEHOVAH,
And he deslighteth in his way. 2. Though he fall, he shall not be / wholly cast down:
For Jehovah up|holdeth him with his hand. 3 I have been young, and now am old ;
'Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his / seed begging bread. 4. He is ever | merciful, and lendeth;
And his seed is blessed. 5. Depart from evil, and do good;
And | dwell forevermore. 6. For JEHOVAH | loveth judgment,
And for saketh not his saints.

SELECTION 272. 1. And there shall come forth a Rod | out of the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall | grow out of his roots : 2. And the Spirit of JE HOVAH shall rest upon him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, 3. The Spirit of counsel and of might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of JEHOVAH ; 4. And shall make him | quick of understanding
In the fear of JEHOVAH; 5. And he shall not judge ] after the sight of his eyes,
Neither reprove after the hearing of his ears; 6. But with righteousness | shall he judge the poor,
And reprove with equity | for the meek of the earth: 7. And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth,
And with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 8. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins,
And faithfulness the | girdle of his reins.
1. Behold! the name of JE|HOVAH cometh from far,
Burning with his anger, I and the burden is heavy: 2. His lips are | full of indignation,
And his tongue | as a devouring fire: 3. And his breath, as an overflowing, stream,
Shall reach to the midst of the neck, 4. To sift the nations with the sieve ofvanity :
And a bridle shall be in the jaws of the people, causing to 5. Ye shall have a song, as in the night al holy feast is kept;
And gladness of heart, as when one I goeth with a pipe,
6. To come into the mountain of JEHOVAH,
To the | Mighty One of Israel. 7. And JEHOVAH shall cause his / glorious voice to be hearu,
And shall show the | lighting down of his arm, [fire, 8. With the indignation of anger, and the flame of devouring
With scattering, and tempest, and with hailstones.
SELECTION 274. [Is. xl. 12.] 1. Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
And meted out | heaven with the span, 2. And comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure,
And weighed the mountains in / scales, and the hills in a 3. Who hath directed the Spirit of JEHOVAH, [balance ?
Or, being his counsellor, hath taught him? 4. With whom took He counsel, and | who instructed him,
And taught him I in the path of judgment, 5. And taught | knowledge unto him,
And showed to him the way of understanding ? 6. Behold! the nations are | as a drop of a bucket,
And are counted | as the small dust of the balance:
Behold! he taketh'up the isles as a | very little thing. 7. And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn,
Nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. 8. All nations before him are as nothing;
And they are counted to him | less than nothing, and vanity.
SELECTION 275. [Is. xliii. 22.] 1. But thou hast not | called upon me, O Jacob!
But thou hast been | weary of me, O Israel ! sings; 2. Thou hast not brought me the | lambs of thy burnt offer
Neither hast thou | honored me with thy sacrifices. 3. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering,
Nor / wearied thee with incense. 4. Thou hast bought me | no sweet cane with money,
Neither hast thou filled me | with the fat of thy sacrifices: 5. But thou hast made me to serve with thy sins,
Thou hast wearied | me with thine iniquities. [own sake, 6. I, I am He that blotteth out thy transsgressions for mine
And will not remember thy sins. 7. Put me in remembrance; | let us plead together :
Declare thou, | that thou mayest be justified. 8. Thy first | father hath sinned,
And thy teachers have transgressed against me. 9. Therefore I have profaned the princes of the Sanctuary,
And have given | Jacob to the curse, 2And Israel to reproaches.

SELECTION 276. 1. Rejoice | greatly, 0 daughter of Zion!
2. Behold! thy King | cometh unto thee!
He is 1 just, and having salvation ; 3. Lowly, and riding upon an ass,
And upon a | colt, the foal of an ass. 4. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim,
And the horse from Jerusalem, 5. And the battle bow shall be cut off:
And he shall speak | peace unto the heathen: 6. And his dominions shall | be from sea to sea, And from the river to the ends of the earth. SELECTION 277.

Get thee | up into the high mountain; 2. O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings!
Lift | up thy voice with strength; 3. Lift it up, be not afraid : Say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your
God! 4. Behold! the Lord Je|HOVIH will come with strong hand,
And his | arm shall rule for him : 5. Behold! | his reward is with him,
And his | work before him. 6. He shall | feed his flock like a shepherd :
He shall | gather the lambs with his arm, 7. And | carry them in his bosom,
And shall gently lead | those that are with young.
