1. Behold my

servant, whom I uphold!

Mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth: 2. I have put my Spirit upon him:

He shall bring forth | judgment to the Gentiles. 3. He shall not cry, nor lift up,

Nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. 4. A bruis-ed reed shall he not break,

'And the smoking | flax shall he not quench: He shall bring forth | judgment unto truth. 5. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, Till he have set | judgment in the earth: 2And the isles shall wait for his law.

1. I will greatly rejoice in JEHOVAH,

My soul shall be joyful in my GOD;

2. For he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness,

3. As a bridegroom | decketh himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorneth herself with jewels.

4. For as the earth | bringeth forth her bud,

And as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth;

5. So the Lord JEHOVIH will cause | righteousness and praise To spring | forth before all nations.

9. Awake! awake! put on | strength, O arm of JEHOVAH! Awake! as in the ancient days, in the generations of old.

2. Art thou not | it which hath dried the sea,

The waters of the great deep?

3. That hath made the depths of the sea a way

4. Therefore the redeemed of JEHOVAH shall return,

And come with | singing unto Zion;

And everlasting joy shall be upon their head:

1. Look down from heaven, | and behold,

[Is. lxiii. 15.]

From the habitation of thy holiness and thy glory: 2. Where is thy | zeal and thy strength,

The sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies | tow'rd me? are they restrained?

3. Doubtless, thou art our Father,
"Though Abraham be | ignorant of us,

And Israel acknowledge us not.

4. Thou, O JEHOVAH! | art our Father:

Our Redeemer, thy | name is from everlasting,

5. OJEHOVAH! Why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, And hardened our | heart from thy fear?

6. Return for thy servants' sake,

The tribes of thine inheritance.

7. The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little Our adversaries have | trodden down thy Sanctuary. 8. We are thine: thou never barest | rule over them; They were not | call-ed by thy name.

3. Behold! all ye that | kindle a fire,

That compass your selves about with sparks : 4. Walk in the light of your fire,

And in the sparks that ye have kindled.

5. This shall ye have of mine hand; Ye shall lie down in sorrow.

1. I said: In the cutting off of my days,
I shall go to the gates of the grave:
2I am deprived of the residue of my years.
2. I said: I shall not see JAH,

JAH, in the land of the living:

3. I shall behold | man no more

With the inhabitants of the world.

4. Mine age is departed,

And is removed from me | as a shepherd's tent: 5. I have cut off like a weaver my life:

'He will cut me off with | pining sickness:

From day to night wilt thou | make an end of me. 6. I reckoned till morning, that, | as a lion,

'So will he break | all my bones :

From day to night wilt thou | make an end of me. 7. Like a crane or a swallow, | so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove:

8. Mine eyes fail with | looking upward:

O JEHOVAH! I am op|pressed: undertake for me.

1. Woe to the multitude of many people,
Who make a noise | like the noise of the seas;

2. And to the rushing of nations,

That make a rushing like the | rushing of many waters! 3. The nations shall rush like the rushing of | many waters: But He shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, 4. And be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind,

And like a rolling | thing before the whirlwind.

5. And behold! at evening, trouble;

And before the morning, he is not.

6. This is the portion of | them that spoil us, And the lot of them that rob us.

1. Behold! a king shall | reign in righteousness, And princes shall rule in judgment.

[Is. xxxii.]

2. And a man shall be as an hiding place | from the wind, And a covert from the tempest;

3. As rivers of water | in a dry place,

As the shadow of a great | rock in a weary

land.

4. And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, And the ears of | them that hear shall hearken. 5. The heart also of the rash shall | understand knowledge, And the tongue of the stammerers shall be | ready to speak plainly.

6. The vile person shall be no more called liberal,

Nor the churl be said to be bountiful.

2. To practise hypocrisy,

And to utter error against JEHOVAH,

3. To make empty the soul of the hungry,

And he will cause the | drink of the thirsty to fail.

4. The instruments also of the | churl are evil: He de viseth wicked devices,

5. To destroy the poor with | lying words, Even when the needy speaketh right. 6. But the liberal deviseth liberal things; And by liberal things shall he stand.

1. Look upon Zion,

The city of our solemnities:

2. Thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet | habitation, A tabernacle that shall not be taken down:

3. Not one of the stakes thereof shall ever | be removed, Neither shall any of the | cords thereof be broken. 4. But there the glorious JEHOVAH will be unto us A place of broad rivers and streams; 5. Wherein shall go no | galley with oars, Neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. 6. For JEHOVAH | is our Judge, 'JEHOVAH is our Lawgiver,

JEHOVAH is our | King; he will save us.

SELECTION 288.

1. Oh! that thou wouldst | rend the heavens, 'That thou wouldst come down,

[Is. Ixiv.]

That the mountains | might flow down at thy presence:

2. As when the melting fire burneth,

The fire causeth the waters to boil;

3. To make thy name | known to thine adversaries, That the nations may | tremble at thy presence!

4. When thou didst terrible things we | looked not for; Thou camest down; the mountains flowed down at thy presence.

5. For since the beginning of the world,

They have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, 6. Neither hath the eye seen, O GOD! beside thee, What He hath prepared for | him that waiteth for him.

SELECTION 289.

1. Thus saith JEHOVAH,

Keep ye judgment, and do justice: 2. For my salvation is near to come, And my righteousness to be revealed. 3. Blessed is the man that | doeth this,

And the son of man that layeth hold on it; 4. That keepeth the sabbath | from polluting it, And keepeth his hand from | doing any evil.
