For he bringeth down them that | dwell on high; The lofty city, he layeth it low; 3. He layeth it | low, to the ground; He bringeth it | even to the dust. 4. The foot shall | tread it down, The feet of the poor, the steps of the needy, 5. The way of the just is uprightness: Thou, Most Upright! dost | weigh the path of the just. 6. Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O JEHOVAH! have we waited for thee: 7. The desire of our soul is | to thy name, And to the remembrance of thee. 8. With my soul have I desired thee | in the night; Yea, with my spirit within me I will I seek thee early: 9. For when thy judgments are | in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. [Cht. 115.] SELECTION 333. [Is. xxxiii. 14.] 1. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire! Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings! 2. He that | walketh in righteousness And speaketh | in uprightness; 3. He that despiseth the gain of oppressions, That shaketh his hands from | holding of bribes, 4. That stoppeth his ears from | hearing of blood, And shutteth his eyes from seeing evil; 5. He shall dwell on high; His place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: 6. Bread shall be | given him ; His waters | shall be sure. 7. Thine eyes shall see the | King in his beauty: [Cht. 80.] SELECTION 334. 1. Have ye not known? Have ye not heard? [Is. xl. 21.] 2. Hath it not been told you | from the beginning? Have ye not understood from the foundations | of the earth? 3. It is He that sitteth upon the circle | of the earth, 'He maketh the judges of the earth as vanity. 6. Yea, they shall not be planted; 'Yea, they shall not be sown: Yea, their stock shall not take | root in the earth : 7. And He shall also blow upon them, and | they shall wither, And the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble. [Cht. 79.] SELECTION 335. [Is. xli. 17.] 1. The poor and needy seek | water, and there is none, And their tongue doth | fail for thirst, 2. I JEHOVAH will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. 3. I will open | rivers in high places, And fountains in the midst of the valleys: 4. I will make the | wilderness a pool of water, And the dry land | springs of water. [tree, 5. Since thou wast precious | in my sight, Thou hast been honorable, and I have loved thee: 2. Therefore will I give | men for thee, And people for thy life. 3. Fear not: for | I am with thee: And my daughters from the ends of the earth: 7. I have form-ed him; Yea, I have made him. [Cht. 76.] SELECTION 337. 1. Thus saith JEHOVAH, [Is. xlix. 8.1 In an acceptable time | have I heard thee, And in a day of salvation | have I helped thee: 2. And I will preserve thee, And give thee for a covenant of the people, 3. To establish the earth, To cause to inherit the | desolate heritages: 4. That thou mayest say to the | prisoners, Go forth! To them that are in darkness, Show yourselves! 5. They shall feed in the ways, And their pastures shall be in all high places. 6. They shall not | hunger nor thirst; Neither shall the | heat nor sun smite them: 7. For he that hath mercy | on them shall lead them, Even by the springs of water | shall He guide them. 8. And I will make all my | mountains a way, And my highways shall be exalted. 9. We gat our bread with the peril | of our lives, Because of the | sword of the wilderness. 2. Our skin was | black like an oven, Because of the | terrible famine. 3. They ravished the | women in Zion, The maids in the | cities of Judah. 4. Princes are hanged | up by their hand: The faces of elders were not honored. 5. They took the young men to grind, And the children fell | under the wood. 6. The elders have | ceased from the gate, The young men | from their music. 7. The joy of our | heart is ceased; Our dance is | turned into mourning. 8. The crown is fallen | from our head: Woe unto us! that we have sinned. [Lam. v. 17.] 1. For this our | heart is faint; For these things our eyes are dim; 2. Because of the mountain of Zion, | which is desolate; The foxes walk upon it. 3. Thou, O JEHOVAH! re|mainest for ever; Thy throne from generation to generation. 4. Wherefore dost thou for get us for ever? And forsake us for | length of days? 5. Turn thou us unto thee, O JEHOVAH! O JEHOVAH! remember David, And all | his afflictions: 2. How he sware | to JEHOVAH, And vowed unto the Mighty | One of Jacob; 3. Surely I will not come into the tabernacle | of my house, Nor go up into my bed; 4. I will not give sleep | to mine eyes, Or slumber to mine eyelids, 5. Until I find out a place for JEHOVAH, Habitations for the Mighty | One of Jacob. 6. Lo! we heard of it | at Ephratah: We found it in the fields of the wood. 7. We will go into his tabernacles: We will worship | at his footstool. 2. For the first heaven and the first earth | passed away, And the sea was no more. 3. And I saw the holy city, | New Jerusalem, Descending out of heaven from GOD, 4 Prepared as a bride Adorned for her husband. 5. And I heard a great voice out of | heaven, saying, 'Behold, the tabernacle of | GOD is with men, And he shall dwell with them, 6. And they shall be his people; And God himself shall be with them, their GOD. 7. And he shall wipe away all | tears from their eyes; And death shall be no more; 8. Neither sorrow nor crying nor | pain shall be more; For the former things are passed away. 9. And He that sat up on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new ; 10.
