2 CHANT 7. SELECTION 20. [Ps. cxix. 9.] 1. Wherewith shall a young man | cleanse his way? By taking heed according to thy word. 2. With my whole | heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 3. Thy word have I | hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee. 4. Blessed art thou, | O JEHOVAH : 6. I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, As much as in all riches. 7. I will meditate | in thy precepts, And have respect unto thy ways. 8. I will delight myself | in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. SELECTION 21. 1. My soul cleaveth | to the dust: Revive thou me according to thy word. [Ps. cxix. 25.1 2. I have declared my ways, and | thou hast heard me : O teach thou me thy statutes. 3. Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: So shall I talk of thy wondrous works. 4. My soul melteth for grief: Strengthen thou me according to thy word. 5. Remove from me the way of lying: 3. I will run the way of thy commandments, SELECTION 22. 1. Remember the word to thy servant, 3. The proud have greatly derided me: [Ps. cxix. 49.] 4. I remembered thy judgments of old, | O JEHOVAH ; And have comforted myself. 5. Horror hath taken | hold upon me, Because of the wicked that forsake thy law. 6. Thy statutes have | been my songs, In the house of my pilgrimage. 7. I have remembered thy name, O JEHOVAH, by night, And I will keep thy law. 8. This did I have, Because I kept thy precepts. 1. O JEHOVAH, rebuke me not | in thy wrath: And my groaning | is not hid from thee. [Ps. xxxviii.] 4. My heart panteth, my strength doth fail me: Thou wilt | hear, O Lord my GOD. 6. For I will de clare mine iniquity; O Lord my salvation. 1. O JEHOVAH, the God of my salvation, I have cried | day and night before thee: 2. Let my prayer | come before thee: Incline thine ear unto my cry: 3. For my soul is full of evils : And my life | draweth near to hell. 4 I am counted with them that go down | into the pit : I am as a | man that hath no strength: DOUBLE. 5. Laid low among the dead, Like the slain that lie in the grave, 6. Whom thou no more rememberest: And they are cut off from thy hand. 7. Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, In darkness, in the deeps. 8. Thy wrath lieth | hard upon me, And thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. SELECTION 25. 1. As the hart panteth for the | brooks of water, So panteth my soul for thee, O GOD. 2. My soul thirsteth for GOD, for the living God: When shall I come and appear before GOD? 3. My tears have been my food day and night, [Ps. xlii.] While they continually say to me, Where is thy God? 4. When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me : 5. For I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, 6. With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept holy-day. 7. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou dis quieted within me? 8. Hope thou in GOD; for I yet shall praise him, Who is the health of my countenance, and my GoD. 7.* 1. In God we boast | all the day, And praise thy name forever. 2. Our heart is not turned back, Neither have our | steps declined from thy way. 3. If we had forgotten the name of our GOD, Or stretched out our hands to a strange god; 4. Would not GOD | search this out? I For he knoweth the secrets of the heart. 5. Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day; We are counted as sheep for the slaughter. 6. Awake, why | sleepest thou, Lord? Arise, cast not off forever. 7. Wherefore hidest | thou thy face, And forgettest our affliction and our oppression? 8. Arise a help for us, And redeem us | for thy mercies' sake. SELECTION 27. [Ps. lxxxviii. 9.] 1. O JEHOVAH, I have called upon thee | all the day, I I have stretched out my hands to thee. 2. Wilt thou show wonders | to the dead? 4. Shall thy wonders be known in darkness? |
