[Ps. cxix. 9.1
SELECTION 20. 1. Wherewith shall a young man | cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to thy word. 2. With my whole heart have I sought thee:
O let me not | wander from thy commandments. 3. Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
That I might not sin against thee. 4. Blessed art thou, | O JEHOVAH :
O teach thou me thy statutes. 5. With my lips have | I declared
All the judgments of thy mouth. 6. I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies,
As / much as in all riches. 7. I will meditate | in thy precepts,
And have respect unto thy ways. 8. I will delight myself | in thy statutes:
I will not forget thy word.
1. My soul cleaveth | to the dust :
Revive thou me according to thy word. 2. I have declared my ways, and thou hast heard me :
0 | teach thou me thy statutes. 3. Make me to understand the way of thy precepts :
So shall I | talk of thy wondrous works. 4. My soul | melteth for grief:
Strengthen thou me according to thy word.
Because of the wicked that forsake thy law.
7. I have remembered thy name, O JEHOVAH, by night,
5. Remove from me the I way of lying:
And I grant me thy law graciously. 6. I have chosen the way of truth:
Thy judgments have I laid before me.
O Jehovah, I put me not to shame.
When thou shalt enlarge my heart.
[Ps. cxix. 49.]
1. Remember the word to thy servant,
Upon which thou hast | caus-ed me to hope.
Yet have I not desclin-ed from thy law.
And have comforted myself.
6. Thy statutes have been my songs,
In the house of my pilgrimage.
And I will keep thy law. 8. This did I have,
Because I kept thy precepts.
SELECTION 23. 1. O JEHOVAH, rebuke me not in thy wrath :
Neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. 2. For mine iniquities are gone over my head:
As a heavy burden they | are too heavy for me. 3. Lord, all my desire is before thee;
And my groaning | is not hid from thee. 4. My heart panteth, my strength doth fail me:
And the light of mine eyes, it | also is not with me. 5. But in thee, O Jehovah, ; do I hope :
Thou wilt hear, O Lord my God. 6. For I will declare mine iniquity ;
I will be afflicted for my sin. 7. Forsake me not, | O Jehovah :
O my God, be not far from me. 8. Make haste for my help, 0 | Lord
SELECTION 24. 1. O JEHOVAH, the God of my salvation,
I have cried | day and night before thee: 2. Let my prayer come before thee:
Incline thine | ear unto my cry:3. For my soul is | full of evils :
And my life draweth near to hell. 4 I am counted with them that go down into the pit :
I am as a man that hath no strength:
7. Why art thou cast down, O my soul?.
Who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
5. Laid low almong the dead,
Like the slain that lie in the grave, 6. Whom thou no more rememberest :
And they | are cut off from thy hand.
In darkness, in the deeps.
[Ps. xlii. 1. As the hart panteth for the brooks of water,
So panteth my | soul for thee, O God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
While they continually say to me, Where is thy God? 4. When I remember these things,
I pour | out my soul within me : 5. For I had gone with the multitude,
I went with them to the house of God, 6. With the voice of joy and praise,
With a multitude that kept holy-day.
SELECTION 26. [Ps. xliv. 18.] 1. In God we boast | all the day,
And | praise thy name forever. 2. Our heart is not turned back,
Neither have our steps declined from thy way. 3. If we had forgotten the name of our God,
Or stretched out our hands to a strange god ; 4. Would not God | search this out?
For he knoweth the secrets of the heart. 5. Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day;
We are counted as sheep for the slaughter. 6. Awake, why | sleepest thou, Lord ?
Arise, | cast not off forever. n. Wherefore hidest | thou thy face,
And forgettest our affliction and our oppression ? 8. Arise a Ī help for us,
And redeem us | for thy mercies' sake.
[Ps. lxxxviii. 9.] 1. O JEHOVAH, I have called upon thee | all the day,
I have stretched | out my hands to thee. 2. Wilt thou show wonders to the dead?
Shall the deceased arise and praise thee? 3. Shall thy mercy be desclared in the grave ?
Or thy | faithfulness in destruction ? 4. Shall thy wonders be known in darkness?
And thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness ?
