SELECTION 53. 1. God is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in troubles. 2. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed,

And though the mountains be cast into the heart of the seas. 3. Though the waters thereof | roar and be troubled,

Though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. 4. Jehovah of hosts is with us;

The God of Jacob is our refuge. 5. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city

The holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High. 6. God is in the midst of her; she shall | not be moved

God shall help her, at the approach of the morning. 7. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved :

He uttered his voice, the earth did melt. 8. JEHOVAH of hosts is with us:

SELECTION 54. 1. Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth ;

SELECTION 55. [Ps. lxviii. 4.] 1. Sing / unto God,

Is God in his holy habitation.

[Ps. xviii. 30.] 1. I will love thee, O JEHOVAH, my strength.

Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; 2. My God, my strength, in him I will trust;

My buckler, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. 3. God, his way is perfect: the word of JE|Hovau is tried :

He is a buckler to all those that trust in him. 4. For who is God save JEHOVAH ?

Or who is a | rock except our God? 5. It is God that girdeth me with strength,

And maketh my way perfect. 6. He maketh my feet like hinds’,

And setteth | me upon my high places. 7. Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation ;

And thy right hand hath held me up. 8. Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O JEHOVAH, among

SELECTION 58. [Ps. xxvii.] 1. JEHOVAH | is my light

And my salvation; whom shall I fear? 2. JEHOVAH is the strength of my life;

Of | whom shall I be afraid? 3. One thing have I desired of Jehovah, that will I seek;

That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah | all the days of

my life,

7. There will I make the horn of David to bud :

8. His enemies will I clothe with shame:

But upon him self his crown shall flourish.

4. To behold the beauty of JEHOVAH,

And to inquire in his temple.
5. For in the day of trouble

He shall hide me in his pavilion :
6. In the secret of his tabernacle | shall he hide me;

Above mine | enemies round about me:
8. Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy ;
I will sing, yea, I will sing praises to Jehovah.

SELECTION 59. [Ps. cxxxii. 8.] 1. Arise, O JEHOVAH, into thy rest;

Thou, and the ark of thy strength.
2. Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness ;

And let thy saints shout aloud for joy.
3. For JEHOVAH hath' chosen Zion;

He hath desired it for his habitation. 4. This is my rest forever :

Here will I | dwell; for I have desired it.
5. I will abundantly | bless her provision :

I will satisfy her poor with bread.
6. I will also clothe her priests with salvation ;

And her saints shall 'shout aloud for joy.
I have ordained a | lamp for mine anointed.

The snares of death prevented me. 6. In my distress I called up on JEHOVAH,

And cried unto my God: 7. He heard my | voice from his temple,

And my cry came before him, into his ears. 8. Jehovah liveth ; and blessed | be

my rock; And let the God of my salvation be exalted.

Let the many isles be glad. 2. Clouds and darkness are round about him;

Justice and judgment | are the support of his throne. 3. A fire goeth before his face,
