human controul, and be enjoyed in their utmost extent. Put an end to the dominion of fuperftition and bigotry over the human mind. Give an effectual check to all that pride and ambition which disturb the world. righteousness and peace on the earth, that nation may not lift up the sword against nation, nor learn war any more. Establish the dominion of

TAKE the British empire under thy protection. O do thou pour out in the midst of us the spirit of wifdom and piety, of purity and peace, of harmony and justice. May there be a general fpirit of humble repentance and reformation, a spirit of fervency, prayer, and fupplication.

O thou great King and Governor amongst the nations, avert from us, we entreat thee, peftilence and famine, earthquakes, wars, and all thy other defolating judgments. Let not our iniquities terminate

in our utter deftruction. Grant, O Lord, that all the inhabitants of these lands may have their hearts united in the fear of thy holy name, in a joint purfuit of one common intereft, and in brotherly love and christian charity one towards another. our King; may his heart and throne be eftablifhed in righteousness ; give him a wife and understanding fp rit; make him a growing and lasting blessing to these kingdoms. our Magistrates make confcience of employing their authority in the most faithful, impartial, and useful manner, dispenfing justice in the fear of God. Blefs all orders and degrees of men among us, from the highest to the loweft. May a facred regard to the rules of virtue and religion render all around us useful in their several spheres. May our great men be men of wisdom and integrity. May fuch as are in ftations of eminence and extenfive influence, be fhining examples and powerful guardians of truth, liberty, and righteousness. BLESS the Ministers of the everlasting gofpel, of every denomination, in their important work. May they obtain mercy of the Lord to be found faithful and be made abundantly fuccefsful. Amen.

BE merciful, O God, to all that are under any affliction or diftrefs; who labour under poverty or perfecution; under bodily pains and difeafes; or under temptations or troubles of mind: mercifully fupport and comfort them; lay no more on them than thou wilt enable them to bear; reconcile them to all thy difpenfations; fanctify their troubles; prepare them for thy whole will concerning them; and in thine own due time give them a happy deliverance out of all their afflictions. FATHER of mercies, God and Father of our Lord Jefus Chrift, we praise thee for the opportunity we have now enjoyed of uniting together in the folemn and delightful exercises of thy worship. Pardon whatever thy pure eyes have seen amiss in us. Grant that by thus waiting upon thee our fpiritual strength may be renewed, and our devotional habits be confirmed. Affift us in the duties which further lie before us. And by the fincere and humble, though imperfect worship of thine earthly courts, may we be trained up for the more perfect and exalted worship of thine heavenly temple.
