23 He faid, I am the voice of one crying in the wildernets, Make Itraight the way of the Lord, as faid the prophet Efaias. 24 And they which were fent were of the Pharifees.

25 And they afked him, and faid unto him, Why baptizeft thou then, if thou be not that Chrift, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

26 John anfwered them, faying, I baptize with water: but there flandeth one among you, whom ye know not;

27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before ine, whofe hoe's latchet am not worthy to unloofe.

28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day John feeth Jefus com toring unto him, and faith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the fin of the world!

7 The fame came for a witnefs, bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was fent to bear witnefs of that Light.

80 This is he of whom I faid, After me cometh a man which is preferred be9 That was the true light, which light-fore me: for he was before me. eth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the fons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, hor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father.) full of grace and truth.

15 John bare witnefs of him, and cried, faying, This was he of whom I fpake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me : for he was before me.

16 And of his fulnefs have all we received, and grace for grace.

31 And I knew him not: but that he fhould be made manifeft to Ifrael, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32 And John bare record, faying, I faw the Spirit defcending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

$s And I knew him not: but he that fent me to baptize with water, the fame faid unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit defcending and remaining on him, the fame is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghoft.

S4 And I faw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

35 Again the next day after, John flood, and two of his difciples;

20 And he confeiled, and denied not; but confelled, I am not the Chrift.

21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he faith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he anfwered, No. 22 Then faid they unto him, Who art thou that we may give an anfwer to them that fent us. What fayeft thou of thy felf?

89 He faith unto them, Come and fee. They came and faw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day for it was bout the tenth hour.

40 One of the two which heard John Speak, and followed him, was Andrew,

Simon Peter's brother.

41 He firft findeth his own brother Simon, and faith unto him, We have found the Meffias, which is, being interpreted, the Chrift.

48 Nathanael faith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jefus anfwered and faid unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou waft under the fig tree, I faw thee.

49 Nathanael anfwered and faid unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Ifrael.

50 Jefus anfwered and faid unto him, Because I faid unto thee, I faw thee under the fig tree, Believeft thou? Thou shalt fee greater things than thefe.

AND the third day there was a mar-

3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jefus faith unto him, They

13 And the Jews' pallover was at hand, and Jefus went up to Jerufalem,

14 And found in the temple those that fold oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the changers of money fitting:

15 And when he had made a fcourge of fmall cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the fheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables ;

16 And faid unto them that fold doves, Take thefe things hence; make not my [Father's houfe an house of merchandise.

17 And his difciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine houfe hath eaten me up.

18 Then anfwered the Jews and faid unto him, What fign fhewest thou unto us, feeing that thou doelt these things?

19 Jefus answered and faid unto them, Deftroy this temple, and in three day's I will raife it up.

20 Then faid the Jews, Forty and fix years was this temple in building, and, Wilt thou rear it up in three days?

21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

22 When therefore he was rifen from the dead, his difciples remembered that he had faid this unto them; and they believed the fcripture, and the word which Jefus had faid.

25 Now when he was in Jerufalem at the paffover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they faw the miracles which he did.

24 But Jefus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all mes,

THERE was a man of the Pharifees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

The fame came to Jefus by night, 9 When the ruler of the feaft had taft- and laid unto him, Rabbi, we know that ed the water that was made wine, and thou art a teacher come from God: for knew not whence it was, (but the fervants no man can do thefe miracles that thou which drew the water knew,) the gover-doeft, except God be with him. nor of the feast called the bridegroom, 3 Jefus answered and said unto him,

4 Nicodemus faith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the fecond time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5 Jefus anfwered, Verily, verily, I fay unto thee, except a man be born of wa ter and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is Aeth; and that which is born of the Epirit is fpirit.

7 Marvel not that I faid unto thee, Ye must be born again.

8 The wind bloweth where it lifteth, and thou heareft the found thereof, but cant not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: fo is every one that is born of the Spirit.

9 Nicodemus anfwered and faid unto him, How can these things be?

10 Jefus anfwered and faid unto him, Art thou a master of Ifrael, and knoweft not these things?

11 Verily, verily, I fay unto thee, We Speak that we do know, and teftify that we have feen; and ye receive not our witness.

12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, How fhall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

18 And no man hath afcended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven.

14 And as Mofes lifted up the ferpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up:

15 That whofoever believeth in him fhould not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God fo loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whofoever believeth in him thould not perish, but have everlasting life.

23 And John also was baptizing in Enon near to Salim, because there was much water there and they came, and were baptized.

24 For John was not yet caft into prifon.

25 Then there arofe a queftion between fome of John's difciples and the Jews about purifying.

26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witnefs, behold, the fame baptizeth, and all men come to him.

27 John anfwered and faid, A man caa receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I faid, I am not the Chrift, but that I am fent before him.

29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which ftandeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

30 He must increase, but I must decrease. 31 He that cometh from above is above all he that is of the earth is earthly, and fpeaketh of the earth; he that cometh from heaven is above all.

:

32 And what he hath feen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his teftimony.

35 He that hath received his teftimony hath fet to his feal that God is true.

34 For he whom God hath fent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto bim.

17 For God fent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through kim might be faved.1

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only be. gotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, left his deeds should be reproved.

85 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life and he that believeth not the Son fhall not fee life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jefus faith unto her, Give me to drink.

8 For his difciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.

9 Then faith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, afkeft drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

10 Jefus answered, and faid unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that faith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldeft have afked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11 The woman faith unto him, Sir, thou haft nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: From whence then halt thou that living water?

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereor himfelf, and his children,

And upon this came his difciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man faid, What feekeit thou?or, Why talkeft thou with her?

28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and faith to the men,

29 Come fee a man, which told me all things that ever I did: Is not this the Christ?

30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

51 In the mean while his difciples prayed him, faying, Master, eat. 52 But he faid unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of

35 Therefore faid the difciples one to another, Hath any man brought him aught to eat?

54 Jefus faith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

89 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the faying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

41 And many more believed because of his own word;

42 And faid unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy faying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Chrift, the Saviour of the world.

45 ¶ Now after two days he departed thence and went into Galilee,
