How rig'rous he chaftifes,
When he with wrath baptifes;
This I will by thy Sufferings learn.
13.From thence I'll be taught wholly,
How my Heart shall be holy;

My mind compos'd and still;
How I fhall love and bear with
Those who me vex and tear with
Rude acts of Malice and ill-will.
14, When I'm exasperated,
My name calumniated,
Myfelf I'll mollify;
And put the beft conftruction
Upon my Neighbour's action,
Forgive and fuffer willingly.
15. With JESUS crucifying
I'll be my Flesh denying,
And ev'ry (flefhly Luft:
What in thy Eye is odious,
I'll leave, howe'er commodious,
By help and Strength which thou
beftow'ft.

16. Thy Sighs and groans unnumber'd;

And from thy Heart encumber'd,
The thoufand Tears forth prefs'd,

To final Reft's fruition,

Thou harmless, undefil'd, and clean,
What caus'd thee to be flain ?
4. My Sins, as num'rous as the fands
Upon the Ocean fhore,
Have been the cruel murd'rous hands
That wounded Thee fo fore.
5.Thy Anguish,thy tormenting pain,
And ev'ry dreadful woe,
Thou didst fo willingly sustain,
My Soul bould undergo.

6. Thou on thy fhoulders tak'ft the whole,

To eafe my burthen'd heart: Thou bear'ft the curfe, to bless my foul,

And heal'ft me with thy Smart. 7. Thy wondrous love to evidence, Thou would'st my Surety be: Thyfelf would't pay my Debt immenfe,

Thereby to fet me free. 8.Thou art Destruction to the Grave, Death's Enemy severe ; That each who was before his flave, Might now be fav'd from fear. 9. My debt to thee, dear wounded Love,

Weak words cannot express;

Convoy me to thy Hands and I cannot here, if there above,
