abusing it. For the Fashion of this World passeth away.
Say not thou, What is the Cause that the foriner Days were better than these? For thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.
" Let us not envy one another.
• The Spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to Envy ; but Charity envieth not.
Let not thine Heart envy Sinners; but be thou in the Fear of the Lord all the Day long. For surely there is an End, and thine Expectation shall not be cut off.
. Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the Glory of his House is increased. For though while he lived, he blessed , his Soul ; yet

+ Take heed and beware of Covetousness. For a Man's Life conlisteth not in the Abundance of the Things which he poffeffeth.
u Thou shalt not covet any Thing which is thy Neighbour's.

that will be rich fall into Temptation and a Snare, and into many foolish and hurtful Lufts, which drown Men in Destruction and Perdition.
* The Love of Money is the Root of all Evil; which, while some have coveted after, they have erred from the Faith, and pierced themselves through with many Sorrows. But thou, O Man of God, flee these Things.
y Lay not up for yourselves Treasures upon Earth, where Moth and Rust doth corrupt, and where Thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves Treasures in Heaven, where neither Moth nor Rust doth corrupt, and where Thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your Treasure is, there will your Heart be also.
Rejoice not because thy Wealth is great, and because thine Hand hath gotten much. Will God esteem thy Riches ? No, not Gold, nor all the Forces of Strength.
a Godliness with Contentment is great Gain. For we brought nothing into this World; and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
• A little that a righteous Man hath is better than the Riches of many wicked.
• Better is a little with the Fear of the Lord, than great Treasure and Trouble therewith.

i No covetous Man, who is an Idolater, hath any Inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ. And how hard is it for them that trust in Riches to enter into the Kingdom of God?

If thy right Eye offend thee, pluck it out; or if thy right Hand offend thee, cut it off, and caft it from thee. For it is profitable for thee that one of thy Members should perish, and not that thy whole Body should be cast into Hell.
* Put off the old Man, with his Deeds; knowing this, that our old Man is crucified with Christ, that the Body of Sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve Sin.
+ Make not Provision for the Flesh, to fulfi. the Lufts thereof: For they that walk after the Flesh cannot please God, because the carnal Mind is Enmity with God. And if ye live after the Flesh ye shall die: But if ye, through the Spirit, do mortify the Deeds of the Body, ye shall live.
u The Flesh lufteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the Flesh; and these are contrary. the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the Things that ye would. But they that are Christ's have crucified the Flesh, with the Affections and Lufts.

No Man that warreth, entangleth himself with the Affairs of this Life, that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a Soldier. Thou therefore endure Hardness as a good Soldier of Jesus Christ.
z God forbid, that I should glory, fave in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Chrift; by whom the World is crucified unto me, and I unto the World. Yea, doubtless, and I count all Things but Loss for the Excellency of the Knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord.
á In the last Days Men shall be Lovers of their own selves; Lovers of Pleasures more than Lovers of God; and shall' feek their own, not the Things of Jesus Christ. These are the Servants of Corruption; for of whom a Man is overcome, of the same is he brought in Bondage.
