The Queen has been graciously pleased to appoint James Hudson, Esq. now Secretary to Her Majesty's Legation at Washington, to be Secretary to Her Majesty's Legation at the Hague.

The Queen has also been graciously pleased to appoint John Kennedy, Esq. now Secretary to Her Majesty's Legation at Naples, to be Secretary to Her Majesty's Legation at Washington.

The Queen has also been graciously pleased to appoint George John Robert Gordon, Esq. now First Attaché to Her Majesty's Legation at Rio de Janeiro, to be Secretary to Her Majesty's Legation at Stockholm.

The Queen has also been graciously pleased to appoint Augustus Craven, Esq. now First Attaché to Her Majesty's Legation at Brussels, to be Secretary to Her Majesty's Legation at Stutgardt.

The Queen has been pleased to present the Reverend James Flowerdew to the church and parish of Fordoun, in the presbytery of Mearns and county of Kincardine, vacant by the resignation of Doctor James Leslie, late Minister thereof.

The Queen has also been pleased to present the Reverend Andrew Rutherford, M.A. to the church at Rothiemurchus, in the united parishes of Duthel and Rothiemurchus, in the presbytery of Abernethy and shire of Inverness, vacant by the transportation of the Reverend Charles Grant, late Minister thereof, to the parish of Kingussie.

WHEREAS Our Parliament stands prorogued to Tuesday the nineteenth day of this instant December; We, with the advice of Our Privy Council, do hereby publish and declare, that the said Parliament shall be further prorogued, on the said nineteenth day of December instant, to Thursday the first day of February next; and We have given order to Our Chancellor, of that part of Our United Kingdom called Great Britain, to prepare a Commission for proroguing the same accordingly; and We do hereby further, with the advice aforesaid, declare Our Royal Will and Pleasure, that the said Parliament shall, on the said Thursday the first day of February next, assemble and be holden for the dispatch of divers urgent and important affairs: And the. Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses, and the Commissioners for Shires and Burghs of the House of Commons, are hereby required and commanded to give their attendance

accordingly, at Westminster, on the said Thursday the first day of February next.

THIS day the Right Honourable Richard Pakenham was, by Her Majesty's command, sworn of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council, and took his place at the Board accordingly.

Her Majesty having been pleased to appoint Lieutenant-General Sir Peregrine Maitland, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath, to be Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the settlement of the Cape of Good Hope, he this day took the oaths appointed to be taken by Governors of Her Majesty's plantations.

WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England have, in pursuance of an Act, passed in the session of Parliament held in the third and fourth years of Her Majesty's reign, intituled "An Act for carrying into effect, with "certain modifications, the fourth report of the "Commissioners of Ecclesiastical Duties and "Revenues;" and of another Act, passed in the session of Parliament held in the four and fifth years of Her Majesty's reign, intituled, "An "Act to explain and amend two several Acts "relating to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners "for England," duly prepared and laid before Her Majesty in Council a scheme, bearing date the twenty-eighth day of November one thousand eight hundred and forty-three, in the words and figures following, that is to say:

"We, the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England, in pursuance of an Act, passed in the session of Parliament held in the third and fourth years of your Majesty's reign, intituled "An Act "for carrying into effect, with certain modifications, "the fourth report of the Commissioners of "Ecclesiastical Duties and Revenues;" and of another Act, passed in the session of Parliament held in the fourth and fifth years of your Majesty's reign, intituled "An Act to explain and amend two several Acts relating to the Ecclesiastical

"Commissioners for England;" have prepared, and now humbly lay before your Majesty in Council, the following scheme, for effecting an exchange of certain advowsons between the Bishop of London and the Principal and Scholars of Brase-nose College, in Oxford.

"Whereas it is enacted by the first-recited Act, that, with an especial view to the better care of populous parishes, arrangements may, from time to time, be made, by the authority therein provided, for improving the value or making a better provision for the spiritual duties of ill-endowed parishes, by means of such exchange of advowsons, or of such other alterations in the exercise of patronage as may be agreed upon by patrons, with the consent of the Bishop in every such case; and, by the secondly recited Act, it is enacted, that it shall be competent to the authority, in the first-recited Act provided, to make such arrangements, with respect to the exchange of advowsons or other alteration in the exercise of patronage, notwithstanding that such advowsons, or any or either of them, or such patronage, shall be vested in, or belong to, any ecclesiastical corporation, aggregate or sole:

"And whereas the Right Honourable and Right Reverend Charles James Bishop of London is, in right of his see, patron of the rectory of Weeley, in the diocese of London and county of Essex, and the Principal and Scholars of Brasenose College, in Oxford, are patrons of the rectory of Saint Matthew, Bethnal-green, in the same diocese, and in the county of Middlesex, and of certain of the churches within the parish of Saint Matthew, Bethnal-green, and would also be patrons of all other churches or chapels erected therein:

"And whereas it has been made to appear to
