As every Session of Parliament introduces changes in the Commercial System of the United Kingdom, this Work will be Published Annually, in the Month of July, so as to embrace not only every Legislative enactment, but every Order in Council, Treasury Order, and Minute of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Customs (connected with the subjects treated of), which may have taken place in the preceding twelve months; and as the necessity of this information being brought together periodically is universally felt, the Author hopes that every succeeding year will bring him an increase of patronage; and he avails himself of this opportunity, respectfully to request of the public (who may become purchasers of this Edition, and who may be induced, from the specimen exhibited, to continue it), that they will be particular in giving their Orders for "Ellis's British Tariff."

[Entered at Stationers' Hall.]

London: Printed by W. CLOWES, Stamford-street.

TO THE RIGHT HON. VISCOUNT GODERICH.

MY LORD,

THE patronage which your Lordship was graciously pleased to bestow on my Octavo Edition of the "Laws of the Customs," has induced me to dedicate to your Lordship this Pocket Edition of the British Tariff, which is an offspring from the parent work, which your Lordship had the kindness to take under your fostering care.

I avail myself of this opportunity with twofold pleasure, as it affords me, in the one instance, the means of publicly thanking your Lordship for that special mark of your Lordship's favour to which I have alluded; and, in the second instance, of testifying the profound respect I bear to your Lordship.
